DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY
 
            Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Sivagangai Medical College functions under the Professors, Associate Professor, Assistant Professors, Senior Residents and Junior Residents.  O&G Department provides comprehensive obstetric care, Gynaecology services, cancer screening and sterilization services.  Antenatal and Gynaecology, O.P is conducted regularly on all days.  High Risk Pregnant mothers  and eclampsia cases are given special care and managed well with the assistance from other departments.

I. OP:
OP Room- Separate for Obstetric & Gynecology.

II. WARD:
Obstetric ward with 35 beds.
Gynecology ward with 20 beds.
Post Partum Ward with 5 beds.


III. OPERATION THEATRE COMPLEX: There are 2 OTs which are well euipped with waiting room for patients, Preparation room, Washing rooms, OT rooms, Post op recovery room, Surgeon & Anesthetists' room, Assistants'room, Instrument & sterilisation room,etc

IV. Office for HOD.

V. Seminar Room  with seating capacity of 50 students


Labour Ward:-
                   In labor ward assistance is provided to the duty medical officers by ANMs and Staff Nurse and Junior Residents providing round the clock monitoring.  Labour ward is equipped with CTG and Emergency Ultra Sound Monitoring.  Intensive care management of highrisk pregnancies is provided in labour ward.  We are supported by a well equipped Neonatal intensive Care Unit. 
Colposcopy training and sterilization training is given to O&G Specialist and Medical Officers from PHCs and Government Head Quarters Hospital.
  The "CEMONC"programme is running in the Ob & Gynae department.LSCS cases are taken both as elective and emergency procedures.
The othe programmes that are in active functioning are- "JANANI SRAKSHA YOJANA " PROGRAMME, Family planning training for doctors from PHCs and hospitals,
PS Training programme for PHC doctors ,IUCD training for staff nurses,
only in May the department has done about 187 LSCS cases,306 normal deliveries,18 major cases,109 PS cases,
NCD programme with seperate staff ,Breast cancer CA cervix cases are screened and surgeries are done.
