An out patient clinic is run daily to cater to the needs of the patients with respiratory problems who are referred to the special clinic from the General medicine out patient clinic or seen by physicians from all the wards in the hospital.
 
A Laboratory technician under the RNTCP does sputum examination. We have increasing number of sputum specimen being examined daily and reported for follow up and appropriate treatment under DOTs regimen.
 
Chest X rays and CT Chest are done here regularly to assist the staff to evaluate patients with respiratory problems in addition to routine biochemistry and microbiological investigations.
 
Patients are initiated into DOTs regimen and those from this area is followed up regularly by the social workers and those from other areas are referred back with information to the appropriate social workers for regular follow up.
 
Patients coming in the out of duty hours are treated by general physicians before handing over to the thoracic physicians.
 
Patients requiring inpatient treatment are admitted to the eight beds allotted to the department exclusively. They are followed up regularly in the outpatient department as needed.
